Henry's Diagnosis

For the past 3 weeks, Henry has been going to the bathroom every 10 minutes to urinate.  We have seen the pediatrician a couple of times about his issue.  She was able to get him into an urologist yesterday morning.  She diagnosed him with Daytime Urinary Frequency Syndrome of Childhood.  So what is this?  "This is a syndrome which occurs in a large number of children, and is not dangerous, although it can be disturbing to the parent, child, teacher, and physician."  They are not sure what causes this syndrome.  They say that it may be caused by heightened bladder sensitivity.  The doctor told us that every time he has to go, he does have the full bladder sensation, so to let him go every time he says he has to go.  It is becoming pretty frustrating for Henry, as it is interfering with his everyday activities.  The symptoms will likely resolve spontaneously within the span of weeks to months and recurrence is possible.  We are so relieved to know that nothing medically is wrong with him.  We were so concerned with juvenile diabetes, they ruled that out, and we were concerned with kidney problems, they ruled that out as well.  Hopefully we won't be in this for the long haul and hopefully it is at the end.  This is a picture of Henry in the car going to Pop and Gran Jan's this past weekend.  We had to pull over about 6 times for him to go.  I have it down to a science.  We pull off an exit ramp, pull car over, and he pees out the door.  I was not about to get all the other kids out of the car every time he had to go.  The sweet doctor gave us a jug for him to use in the car for road trips.  I was thrilled with that.  Thank goodness this is something small that we can handle!
